There is "ACI's 3rd annual Carbon Capture and Sequestration Summit" AND "Platts 2nd Annual Carbon Capture & Sequestration Conference" both in Washington, D.C. September 14–15, 2009?
Am I getting this right?
even their subtitles seem to point to the same topics "Addressing the Economic, Policy and Regulatory Challenges" and "Policy, Economics, Regulation, and Risk"
I figured this would be reasonable if one was more economic and political while the other scientific and technical... but that doesn't seem to be the case.
What is the deal here?? Maybe I am naive to something, but competing conferences doesn't sound very progressive...
Your blog posting was just brought to my attention. I am the event director for the ACI Carbon Capture and Sequestration Summit. I'm flattered that our event is blog worthy! And you're right, the timing of the two events isn't ideal - for the industry, let alone either conference company. I certainly didn't intentionally schedule our event on the same date as Platts. In fact I wasn't even aware that Platts was planning a competing CCS conference until I had finished developing our event and we had gone to market. Since then we have worked hard to raise awareness of our conference and we've had great feedback on the agenda and speaker faculty. I am confident that all those who have signed up to attend the ACI CCS Summit will find great value in the event.
