I am working on deep in-well wireless data communications links for sensors

Our company is working on and currently testing wireless thru-earth communicationssystems for remote and buried sensors and control equipment. To date we havetested in an aquifer at KTB in Bavaria, Germany sending data to the surfacefrom a depth of 3950 mtrs at 30 kbps consistently over the test period, we arenow testing at 3K in Cornwall, UK in hot rocks granite well to 3km depth. The original intention was for geoscientific seismic sensors, tsunami detectioncommunications but we are certain…See More

Well Communications System

More info   We have developed a well communicaqtions system primerily for oil wells but I was wondering if there is application areas for C02 storage wells.  The project is called WellCommS and works to 4km depth wireless radio link to surface. It can accomodate almost any kind of sensor and incorporates several common serial interface ports to connect to third party equipment in the well.  Does anyone know of requirements for this…See More

Development of a Deep Well Bore Communications System - WellCommS

WellCommS is a sub-surface communications system for Bi-Directional data communications between a deep well and the surface using Wireless Radio.  This system has been developed over several years and tested in a 3.8 km deep steel cased well bore to surface.

Our ongoing research and product development will result in a universal data communications module that can be deployed in a well up to 4 km deep and operating temperature of +150C with data rates between 3 kbps and 100 kbps depending upon depth, site geology and well medium type.

The WellCommS was originally aimed at the oil and gas industry but has become suitable for C02 wells, deep water storage wells and any application that requires sub-surface to surface or sub-surface mesh networked sensors.  Foe more details visit www.wellcomms.info
