Imperial College is now inviting applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer or Reader to be held in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The Department is one of the world's leading institutions in both the teaching and research of chemical engineering, and has been top rated in each of the last three Research Assessment Exercises, in 1996, 2001 and 2008. Successful candidates will have a proven world-class research track record. A background in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

- experimental thermophysics of fluids

- carbon capture and storage

- mineral-fluid interactions especially in carbonate-based systems

- process thermodynamics

- process monitoring and sensors

Appointments at Senior Lecturer or Reader level will be considered for candidates of appropriate experience.

Successful candidates will be expected to pursue their own research interests, to contribute to the teaching and administration in the Department and to be active and take on an academic leadership role in the activities of the QCCSRC. Exciting opportunities exist for evaluation of engineering applications in a field environment. Significant funding for research staff, studentships and equipment will be available. The Lecturers will also have the opportunity to contribute to the multidisciplinary Energy Futures Lab and the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and to work closely with scientists and engineers in Shell and Qatar Petroleum.
