Carbon capture and storage - one of the most important engineering challenges

The calculation of environment quality index is done by the following way :

For any environmental parameter like AAQ,SO2 etc. mean of the measured value taken from different location and at different time is converted to a cluster comprising of 13 groups(A-M).The conversion is done with the help of the standard max and min value of the parameter.The difference between the max and min is divided by 13 and each division is assigned a group.A is assigned to the first division nearest to max value of the parameter.This can also be done by ranking system if a huge amount of data is available.But for now it is considered that available data is few and hence the only option present is to follow the first procedure.A weightage factor is assigned to each group which depend solely upon the rank of the groups for e.g. A is the highest ranked group so highest weightage is given to the group.% value of the mean is calculated by dividing mean by max and multiplying 100 to the result.This value is again multiplied with the weightage factor to find the EQI for that parameter.All the EQI is again assigned a weightage this time according to the impact of the parameter on environment.The result give the overall EQI and with the help of the scale below the quality of the environment is calculated.

Quality :
* 90-100: Excellent
* 70-90: Good
* 50-70: Medium
* 25-50: Bad
* 0-25: Very Bad

Parameters Used : Click Here to know about the parameter used in the calculation.

So,to calculate EQI,just follow the steps given below :

1.Visit the Environment Quality Classifier webware.
2.Calculate the mean of the parameter value and find the max and min value of the parameter from any standard code books.
3.Divide the mean with the max value and multiply 100 to the result.This will give you the % Value.
4.Enter the % Value for each of the parameter.
5.The group and EQI will be automatically given according to the % value and when the "Submit" button is clicked.
6.EQI and Quality of Environment will be written in the fields with the same name.
7.Try to calculate EQI separately for air and water.Add them all to get the overall EQI of the place.
