Carbon capture and storage - one of the most important engineering challenges

New job at The Crown Estate - Development Manager - CCS & gas storage

We've got a new role at The Crown Estate that may be of interest to some of you. Here is some information about it:

Development Manager - CCS & gas storage
London

Competitive

The Crown Estate manages £6 billion worth of property assets across the United Kingdom, including around half of the foreshore, almost all of the seabed out to the 12 nautical mile limit, and mineral, renewable energy, and gas importation and storage rights on the UK continental shelf.  The surplus revenue earned from income on this portfolio is paid directly to the UK Treasury for the benefit of the nation.  Our activities are supported by a commitment to sincerely-held core values of commercialism, integrity and stewardship.

In this role we will look to you to jointly manage The Crown Estate’s development activity within our offshore carbon dioxide & natural gas storage programmes. Principally, you will provide expert advice on technical and project development matters, including implementation of business strategy and plans, R&D programmes and joint industry studies. You will also lead in processes and negotiations associated with awarding leases for offshore storage sites and assist with the development and use of energy system scenario planning and energy infrastructure planning processes, procedures and tools.  You will have knowledge of the UK energy system and assist with managing the interaction between The Crown Estate’s programmes for low carbon and renewable energy on the UK continental shelf.

Preferably with a degree qualification in a related CO2 or natural gas transport & storage discipline, and an active participant within the industry, you will have experience of either CO2 storage or natural gas storage technical and industry issues. This work will ideally have included stakeholder management and you will have the communication skills and confidence to build effective relationships with internal and external contacts, plus the ability to understand wider business implications to enhance your credibility. Some knowledge of regulatory and consenting requirements and experience of working within or closely with, government departments and their advisers would be a real advantage.
